About Side Effects Of Ramipril in Q&A
I am 35yrs, Known Hypertansive, since 2002, Can I go for Caronary Angiogram? Are there any side effects ? I have been on three drugs i.e.ramipril+amlodepine+hydrochlorothiozid taking once in the morning, I would like to go for Angiogram, are there any side effects for this test? Slight SOB si there while speed walking.

Doctor replied: "There is no contraindication for having a coronary angiogram for having diabetes. I suspect your doctor is ordering this test either based on another abnormal test that was done in evaluation of your dyspnea on exertion. You likely had an abnormal EKG, Persantine thallium or stress echo. The angiogram is the gold standard on detecting narrowing of the arteries that supply oxygen to your heart (coronary arteries). The risk that associated with the test include infection, bleeding, perforation of the coronary arteries. These complications are very rare if done by a experienced interventional cardiogist. You also should make sure that your kidney function is normal before the test is done. Your doctor likely will order a creatinine (blood test) beforehand. If your kidney's function is low (creat > 2.0), the dye can worsen it. Your doctor may recommend that you hydrate yourself with fluids the night before and hold your ramipril and hydrocholorthiazide the morning of the test."

Are minor side effects from blood pressure pills actually doing you any harm? I have ringing in the ears, probably from aspirin, and a dry cough, probably from Ramipril. Does the ringing indicate damage is being done to my auditory nerve? Anyone know why exactly I have the cough? Is it harmful to just ignore these effects and carry on taking the pills?

afrowoman replied: "I would go and ask my doctor about this. The effect from a lot of drugs causes other problems but only your doctor can tell you for sure what is happening."

mccormack_thomas replied: "Maybe you should go back to your doctor and tell him about the side effects. But remember high blood pressure could give you a stroke or a heart attack."

gillie replied: "you need to see your gp"

Bren replied: "i have just been put on ramipril and the doc said it may cause a cough and if it was not bearable to go back and he would change to something else. i would suggest u consult the doc that prescribes them for u but dont stop taking them unless advised by doc. ps i have got the cough and am going back later this week."

ghostwriter replied: "Your spot on about ramipril causing a cough. it is harmless, but if it becomes a nuisance then get your doctor to put you on something else, such ad candesartin. As for aspirin causing ringing in the ears, look for other causes as this is very unusual. Especially if you are on 75mg a day as that is hardly any aspirin at all."

john c replied: "Find a naturopathic doctor, who knows alternative medicine, and get off the toxic junk peddled by the pharmaceutical drug companies. If you take any type of pharmaceutical drugs, you are going to be sick, as none of these toxic preparations have healing effects. Your body, when given the chance, and the correct natural nutrition, will heal itself. Don't be gullible, and fall for the speil you hear everyday, " ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF IT IS RIGHT FOR YOU!""

BigMomma2 replied: "You may find its the Ramipril giving the ringing in the ears too as i am on it and don't get the cough (my mum got the cough from Ramipril and her GP changed them as he said it wasn't right to get one!), but I do get the occassional ringing in the ears now the Doc says thats ok ! just annoying, I would tell your GP about them.."

How safe is angioprim to replace lipitor, metropolol & ramipril? I have severe side effects from the three medications above. First a very sore throat than aching ears, jaws and headache, trouble breathing, consistent dry cough and trouble swallowing liquids. Doctor cannot find what the symptoms are so he gets me to use antibiotics. I started taking applecider vinegar to-day as a start to get off these drugs, am I ok?

puff replied: "my dad was on metroprolol was experiencing sob and he was on lipitor took him off are you also having sob"
