Does anyone take paxil and Valium? i ask because...? I ask because i have been on paxil for years and taken valium sometimes but recently i read that there is a potential interaction between the 2 and even though no harm came to me from the 2 i wondered if you knew anything about this discovery???PS paxil is pre ion but not the valium. i know thats bad!

Serendipity replied: "You should consult your primary care physician. Take him or her a list of all the medications you are taking, over-the-counter as well as prescribed and the dosage of each. Or, you could ask your pharmacist. No lay person can tell you this, especially not knowing what other medications you are taking and the dosages."

fruitybaby101 replied: "First off paxil is an anti-depressant and Valium is considered an anti-anxiety but is used for more conditions. I am unaware of any interactions with the 2 drugs you are asking about. None of my business what you do in your personal life but if you are experiencing some sort of anxiety and need the Valium I would seek the advice of your doctor. Buying Valium or any drug from an individual like that could be very dangerous. Are you 100% sure that it is Valium that you are getting???"

gangadharan_nair replied: "Please see the webpages for more details on Paroxetine(generic name) Paxil (brand name) and Benzodiazepines (generic name) Valium (brand name). (It is presumed that the drug Valium (brand name) you have mentioned is not Diazepam (generic name). Consult your doctor."

Clickclack replied: "Paxil and valium can be taken together, in moderation. I was prescribed both for some time. Do your research on Paxil. It is a horrible drug, with awful consequences for taking it. Birth defects, liver problems, high blood pressure, suicidality, intestinal problems, a difficult withdrawal period, insomnia, and weight gain - these are just the tip of the iceberg. I truly wish someone had warned me against paxil when I first started it - I am 12 years on, when it was supposed to be only 6 months in the first place. The withdrawal is so difficult I am barely surviving it - that's why I'm answering questions online instead of living my life. Visit the forum below, and learn about paxil and what it can do. I am so sick of doctors prescribing these pills at will and not informing their victims of what can and will happen. Fortunately, we have nurses, docs, and psychiatrists in the know at paxilprogress, and you need this information!"

Anyone out there with OCD & Anxiety taking Paxil (aropax) & Valium? I have been on anti-depressents for 23 years now and have had a few set back (when my children were born) however now at 42 I suffered a huge panic attack about 6 weeks ago and have since been prescribed Valium. I was doing really well and cut down the Valium quite well (1.25mg once a day). Now I had another panic attack, is this because I am going off the valium or just me and my problem resurfacing. I have had no big things happening in my life and the Psychiatrist doesn't think it is menopause. please help?

sammy replied: "it could be because your coming off the valium.it affects people in different ways.dont put too much emphasis on the reason for the panick attack.sometimes their isnt a reason it just happens.doesnt mean you are getting worse.i know what you mean because sometimes i have a really bad day and think oh no im going back to square one.and then the next day im fine.cant remember what dose of paxil you said you were on.can it be increased.im on 30mg but reluctant to go up to 40mg inless i really really have to."

are there any real good antidepressants on the market that have fewer side effects than say prozac or paxil? im on paxil now but hate the crappy side effects ..i know most of them do but there has to be something better ..i also take ativan for anxiety but am thinking of going to valium or xanax since they last longer

Mike A replied: "do you think he jews that were in concentration camps had to take anti-depressants? wow, the greatest generations we have known, our grandparents, 40's, 50's - sure got along well without pills to 'help cheer us up'. want no side-effects - get off the dope and stop claiming to be 'depressed'. if you don't claim it, you won't own it..."

rolled oats replied: "i take welbutron and get along fine ask your dr.to let you try it."

lotus4yoga replied: "Wellbutrin and Effexor tend to have less people complaining about less side effects. However, they do NOT have more people saying they work better. In fact, even according to the studies conducted by the drug companies (and they can exclude people from any study if they don't complete it - even if it's cause it's not working and they don't like it) they don't work any better than placebo. There's something in your body (some people to a greater extent than others) that releases endorphins just when you think things are going to be better. By the way, Ativan, Valium, and Xanax are all depressants. Just so you know... Maybe you could try some behavioral things. Like what would you be doing if you weren't depressed? Try doing some of those things, even if you don't feel like it. Think of what was going on in your life the last time you weren't depressed and start doing some of the things you were doing then. Not only would it get you moving again but it would remind you of a time when you weren't depressed. Not instant, of course, but it does work for some people. Try meditation. Again, not instant, but it does help you realize that change - in situations, in feelings - is constant and you will not feel like this forever. Allow yourself to fully feel what the depression is like - don't avoid it but don't ruminate over it - just experience it as part of your life, be as ive and nonjudgmental as possible. I can almost guarantee that it will at least decrease, it may disappear. It may come back later but next time you'll know how to handle it. Namaste."

What do you have to say to a psychiatrist to get prescribed xanax or valium or kolonopin? We all know they look for certian signs of things but if you are prescribed them what did you tell your psychiatrist? Most just prescribe paxil or effexor wich doesnt do anything.

Laura J replied: "Psychiatrists have gotten wise to drug addiction and will only prescribe it to terminally ill patients. Do you have a condition where your physical disease is progressive and the only way to tolerate it is to give you a medical straight jacket? If not, you are out of luck."

Mopar Muscle Gal replied: "tell him/her that you are reallllllllllllllllllllllly stressed out and cant handle problems say you are having sleeping problems, chest pains, panic attacks and want to try Xanax or Valium ( for a short ) period of time"

philly b replied: "i dunno but i can get all of them... telll them you just went on a plane for your first time the other day and got light headed, dizzy, shaking, sweating and stuff like that and how you were really scared. then tell them you are going on a trip around the world for a month or two and that you will never be able to make the trip without a pre ion, they will prob give you valium. but you can also use that excuse with your physician but you would have to tell him that your going on a trip in two days and need something immediatley before the plane ride. he would give you valium or this other drug. I used to take it, dont remember what it's called but it is what leo dicaprio gets prescribed in "the daparted" movie"

Marilyn replied: "I have been diagnosed with General anxiety disorder, Ive known my psyciatrist for many years , Ive seen him off and on so he knows me well, He prescribed xanax for me without a problem, and he knws I dont abuse it, I take it mostly at noght to go to sleep, You cant just go to his office and ask for xanax because he wont give it to you unless he feels you need it,"

Wally replied: ". there is no such thing as a psychiatrist. There is, however, a way to go into a Psychiatrist's office with a gun, bazooka, 12 guage, broken bottle, poison dart, or giant blow-up doll, point it at him, and threaten to kill him unless he gives you a pre ion for Xanax , Valium , or chlonopine*; if he is licensed, he will probably let you kill him, before he would write a pre ion to someone that says, "say to a psychiatrist to get..." .... yet if it is a Psychiatrist, he has M.D., which is a License to kill, and not likely you would want to f**k with a registered Martial Arts' license also. ."

kyleheaphy replied: "You don't have to say anything if you just order online. I buy them from the online pharmacy. You just fill out a simple questionaire and an MD reviews it and a registered pharmacist fills the pre ion. Orders come by registered post so delivery is guaranteed worldwide. I've never had a problem with them. Hope that helps!"

What causes mini- dizzy spells several times every day? Been to doctor; fitted witn holter monitor and due to have sonagram and nuclear test stress next week. Shortness of breath, burning sensation in chest; "hot flashes: ocassionally. Ringing in ears common for years. bood pressure good; cholesterol good. Diangosed with anxiety 6 years ago; on several medications (Protonic, Cartia, Paxil and Valium to cover all bases. Aslo have small nodules on Thyroide. What is happening? What are the answers Please help

silverman780 replied: "It could be a side effect of the medications you are currently taking. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor to be sure or a medication could be causing low blood pressure."

kockboy69 replied: "its probably not caused by the things you've listed above. usually if you get up to fast you get light headed and and feel like you might faint its normal so dont worry about it. but if you get dizzy spells out of no where not because you got up too fast it might be due to your anxiety. i have pretty much everything you have except the ringing in my ears and the burning sensation."

leafyme22 replied: "Anemia? I know an iron deficiency causes dizzy spells. You could try just taking supplements."

fabulouz14 replied: "Check your home for a gas leak or try a carbon monoxide detector."

ive been taking valium for 9 years now because of the side effects of ssri's.how to i get off them without med i still panic at the slightest noise, dont like being left alone, scared to go to sleep. im tired of valium but when i try to stop taking them i get sick and my muscles draw up. been on lexapro, paxil, effexor, zoloft you name it. the side effects are aweful. any suggestions?

123abc replied: "There are many drugs out there you could try. Why do you want to get off Valium? Talk with your doctor about your concerns and see what he/she suggests."

Terrible G replied: "Do not go off Valium without the help of a doctor. After 9 years it will take many months of slowly tapering down to get off the drug. Otherwise you will have terrible side effects. Plus too fast of a taper could lead to a coma and death. WORK WITH A DOCTOR ON THIS. As far as other meds to try. If SSRI's and SNRI's do not work because of side effects, that is a big issue. You will not be able to tolerate the older AD drugs. That leaves you with mood stabilizers and the Atypicals off label to try. Docs are writing Lyrica for anxiety, busbar make help a tad, Depakote might help, Risperdal low dose might help, Seroquel or Geodon might be worth a shot. That is up to you and your doctor. Did you ever try therapy to gat at the root of the problem?"

All-One replied: "Tak, their is no easy answer to this, you must detox first. Two ways, have the Dr. lower you dosage slowly over time, or kick "cold turkey". Then you will require maintenance of the drug free state. You can go to a therapist, or N/A, don't misunderstand what I am about to say, you are a drug addict, the only thing is your drugs were legal, so I feel you should deal with this, the same as anyone else that has been addicted. I sincerely hope for your success in this, believe me I have been there and empathize with you."

Is meditation as effective as everyone says? My psychiatrist said I should meditate for 5 minutes a day twice per day, he said my lvs of anxiety would be far less if I did so for those who practice meditation does it really make that much of a difference? I have Anxiety and am currently taking Paxil,Prozac and Valium, but medicine is only half the therapy the rest I have to change. I've also found the 2 things that cause my anxiety.. thinking to much into something and Family affairs, but would you recommend Meditation besides its at first difficult to do? I don't take them all at once 2 20mg Prozac at morning and paxil at night as for the valium, 3-5 daily based on anxiety but the good news is my anxiety has been down but I want it further to go down especially with stressful situations

Bart replied: "You're really taking all 3 of those? If you still have anxiety you should consider kicking at least one because that is a heavy psychoactive load. Meditation helps a lot of people. It would definitely lower your anxiety. I'm sure someone will post a good how-to link, but I've always heard to do it for 30 minutes. Even for 5 it can't hurt."

yeahh replied: "meditation is beautifull it makes your mind so clear and all you need is 5 minutes and its so relaxing..i think its totally worth it"

My heart will start to palpitate suddenly and stop so suddenly? My heart will start to race suddenly and so badly i always feel as if i am going to black out. i will then try to get to the er to get oxygen but sometimes as i see the doctor with the stethoscope the attack stops or by the time i get in the taxi it stops. i am somethimes given xanax 25mg and valium. I was even put on paxil . what can i use as a home remedy to stop[ these attacks when they come on.

Kacey K replied: "The same happened to me when i went to the doctor he told me addolessent girls have it happen to them all the time and can be due to depression or anxiety but for me it went away in a month or so"

bigduderigby replied: "You feel like you are going to black out, or you do? It sounds like a panic attack. Oxygen is going to make it worse, slow down your breathing, and your heart will stop racing. One thing i was told to do was to hold my breath, and then do liek you are having a big shit, (tense your muscles up), which also slows your heart down."

michaellabibin replied: "I think it's more related to Anxiety or Panic Attacks more than anything else. Anyway, you should check with your doctor that you have a healthy heart so you don't get worry each time this happens."

sukhwinder g replied: "on the left palm below the small finger press on the spot on the line with right thumb holding left palm by the palm and four fingers of right hand- heart point , if it pains there it means heart is weak and needed care. same way press on the same palm below the index finger mount - adrenalin point -if pains - fluctuation in pressure low or high. but pressing on these points 20/25 times , twice every day will cure / reduce the problem. reflexology- acupressure"

which drug is better for anxiety? (xanax or valium)? i'm on xanax and it def helps but i wanted to see how people feel about valium also. xanax helps me in big situations when i take it a couple times a day but it doesn't last very long so i need another drug along with the the xanax that helps a good amount for the rest of the day. i've tried paxil and lexapro and those don't really help. what other drug would you recommend with xanax or would you recommend with valium?

mandalaybay15 replied: "Hi--I have been on a lot of med's, but not xanax or valium. I am on Effexor XR for depression and Klonopin for anxiety. I think Klonopin is awesome. It works quick and helps alot. I am on that twice a day, and Seroquel at night."

lacrosselover replied: "I have tried Ativan but it is short acting. Then my PCP had me try Klonopin and it's great. It's long lasting. I also take Wellbutrin. The combination has been great for me. Now....if I take the recommended prescribed dose of Klonopin, I would be a zombie so I break them in quarters or in half. Since I need to be alert and make quick decisions in the field of work that I'm in, I will only take 1/4 to 1/2 of a tablet. If I feel really anxious that day or was extremely stressed out, I will take the other half a hour or so before bed and it helps me relax so that I can fall asleep."

Josh replied: "BOTH of them are very risky drugs. and DO NOT take two anti-anxiety drugs at one time or you will DIE fo' sho'!!"

william m replied: "Medications only offer temporary relief... and there are natural options to treating anxiety disorders. Here are two quite successful programs: The Panic Away Program - The Linden Method - The numerous testimonials offered by successful patients are evidence of the effectiveness of these treatments."
