Lamictal 20mg in Questions
I take Adderal Xr 20mg and Lamictal 100mg would it be safe to use Sudafed PE with these medications? I take these meds for ADHD and Bipolar.

kimieyjean replied: "Call your local 24 hour pharmacy and ask ."

trysssa999 replied: "call a Chemist, or ask a doctor."

VAJETA1999 replied: "it's safe bookmark this site for future use it's a good resorse to check when taking multaple meds"

Pharmacy_Tony replied: "I would seriously NOT recommend taking Sudafed PE with your current medications. As you probably know, Adderal is a powerful stimulant with effects on the heart such as increasing blood pressure and heart rate. Sudafed PE also stimulates the heart, making it dangerous in combination with Adderal. Combining the two could lead to heart problems such an arrythmia (potentially fatal change in your heartbeat). BTW, did your doctor or pharmacy tell you anything about the interaction between Adderal and Lamictal? Taking these drugs together increased the risk of seizures. Since you've been taking this combination already it doesn't seem to be a problem for you, but just so your aware of the interaction and risk of seizures."

aspirit replied: "Robert please go back to Health category. Your in alternative medicine. We don't use drugs here."

Has anyone taken the combo of Lamictal and Geodon for Bi Polar Type 1? I have been taking Lamictal for almost an entire year. It has helped quite a bit but I am still having really bad manic episodes. Today, my doctor recommended an antidepressant to help with the mania. I am now taking "Geodon" 20mg's twice a day. I am curious if anyone is prescribed to this combo and how it has made them feel? .. Worse? Better? Weight Gain? Energy Loss or Gain?

Danny replied: "i have been hearing so much about all these drugs please know what your putting in your body. however, thats a good page. please do something better your self. read is all ok thanks. i just think you should do some more looking b4 you ever put anything in your body."

I was wondering what will happen if you took 3 Lexapro pills, 2 Wellbutrin-XL pills, and 4 Lamictal pills? Lexapro pills each contains 20MG. Wellbutrin pills each contains 300MG. Lamictal pills each contains 25MG. I would love to receive an answer from a doctor who knows about these things because,I'm having alot of difficulties in life, due to the fact that I had to dropout of high school during senior year because everything got harder, and I wasn't able to finish it nor understand it which ravaged my grades from barley passing to just failing.

Adam replied: "You need to call a Walgreens Pharmacist. I work in Pharmacy, and you should not be taking those high doses or combination without the consent of your doctor. Sounds like you need to see a specialist in regards to the rest of your past."

katygirl1979 replied: "Please get some help. You are not alone. Pray for help and go seek some out."

phillip b replied: "be clear about this druggs are not your answer at all for problems in life this principle my friend will realy help you big time if you apply it From my research and inspiration I have led to a concept called karma and this seems to be the only thing stopping us from achieving , health wealth and happiness Karma therapy The orion project is for the Sharing of information . This information some of which has actively been submerged by vested interest parties more concerned with profit/power rather than your health . Following the principles outlined in the Orion project will lead you to real wealth=health. One of the most powerful allies to any person is to know about karma therapy for if you understand this you can even Avoid getting health or wealth or happiness problems Or if you currently have problems in those areas Give you the most effective tool, which I have come across to help you alleviate them. This is the tool The value of giving Putting something or some service into society is one of the most transforming tools with which we all benefit . The value of it is much higher than we can possibly know and it should be included as part of everyones health program. The giver may ask how will helping others help my health and me! That is a very good question, which is very worthy of a serious amount of thought. This touches on the concept which is called karma . For if one truly wants to live with the great allies of Health, wealth, happiness, Love and all those effects which one values one should really understand this concept. It is the only thing, which explains the apparent randomness of the effects, which come upon people. Effects are all aspects of health, Wealth, Richness, [note these two are separate] Happiness etc. What is karma? Put simply it is the law of cause and effect. Or put as another way as you sow so shall you reap, or what goes around comes around. What do we mean by sowing? Simply every action or deed you do causes an effect and every thought causes an effect. So if you have sown good deeds as in helping others, being of service, giving love and Kindness for lengthy periods of time you can expect to reap those seeds. Alternatively if we have sown other deeds and thoughts of a hurtful nature we can expect problems of one nature or another to beset us. Edgar Cayce frequently mentioned in treating disease that we were working against karma and frequently told people that they would get well faster by helping others. Ah you may say why is it that babies are sometimes born with so many impediments; they have not sown wrongful acts. Yes they have not in this lifetime but what about their previous lives as in reincarnation. You may not wish to go into this subject at this time but there are millions of references to it, some in the bible and a lot of eastern religions, some people can actually remember their past lives. There is now even past life regression therapy used in hypnosis to treat phobias, which are not connected with this lifetime. now listen to this next concept really carefully If we are unwell and by implication therefore suffering from past seeds sown it follows therefore one of the fastest ways to get well is to incorporate into your treatment plan service or giving to somebody as often as you can . Ask for opportunities to be of service .I have proved this concept on a daily basis and feel that this concept is so important in all types of healing and to achieve other effects like having friends ,enriching experiences, money and other effect which we all need. Just a few examples of how we can be of service giving Sharing our being, our wealth, sending our thoughts, giving to charity, sharing a joke, uplifting someone, giving listening time, giving healing, giving labour, giving love, giving entertainment, giving food, giving information and a million more ways. Edgar cayce gave many thousands of examples of karma at work ,he even told one person who asked to be healed that to cure him of this thing would be to no avail as another would surely come . As you can see from this statement the man has got to work it off ,this apply to us all and its not just health either that this applies to .Virtually every effect you can name . All is seen ,all is heard, all is felt. The wise among you will take the attitude of discovering the areas of service you have to make amends on before effects of ill health reach you whether it be cancer, Parkinsons blindness or what have you. So I strongly advise that you engage in some kind of voluntary work and I believe that virtually everyone should be engaged in some kind of healing practice for others preferably on a daily basis. how to discover this? Well I suggest you pray to be shown or ask the universe to reveal it to you. reveal the areas which are most suited to service Just going along in your life and living for self a"

mindy replied: "I take Lamictal 100 mg 2 times per day. Your lamictal dose at 25 mg x 4 pills would put you at the dose I take. The wellbutrin you are on is already an appropriate dose. I wouldn't increase the Lexapro because 20 mg. is also an appropriate dose. If they don't seem to be working for you, you may need to increase your doses, but don't do it without the advice of a doctor. Many times. anti-depressants can cause suicidal tendancies. That is one of the reasons you shouldn't increase it without his advice. I take Cymbalta for depression, and it really helps me alot. I take 60 mg. per day. Just so you know, I am a nurse, and I have been through a pretty rough breakup of a marriage. I really do understand depression. I have found that after my lamictal was increased, it made such a huge difference in me. I was able to function without crying all the time or getting mad or depressed. The lamictal will help you deal with your emotions without feeling overwhelmed. If I ever miss a dose, I can really feel a difference. I am sorry you are struggling- it is so hard to feel down all the time. There are other people out there that have experienced depression such as yours. Try to find a support group. Counseling has also helped me alot. Good luck and God bless."

gigglesrfree replied: "My friend, if you think your life is hard now, taking a bunch of meds you know nothing about will only make it worse. What you should know is most of those meds take up to two-three weeks before people start noticing any real changes in how they feel. They have to build up in the bloodstream. Taking too high a dosage right away causes severe seizures which is why everyone is started at the lowest possible dose to see how they respond. You may be in a bind right now, but if you mess up your health by doing something stupid, you'll lose any chance you may have for getting help and back on track. You've got problems, but they are all temporary. If you have physical health and don't do anything harmful to yourself, nest try to talk to some vocational counselors or workforce people, they can help you get your life in order so you can be productive and if you've got internet you can start educating yourself. The world is your oyster, but oysters don't jump in your pocket, you've gotta go out and find 'em. Don't make your bad situation worse. The only way to get anywhere is to take a step. Where do you want to go? Take some steps toward happiness and success. Your future. Good luck and I hope I helped."

Are there any psychiatrists out there willing to give an off-the-cuff opinion of the following meds? I've been on the following med regimen for a couple of years. I recently "fired" my doctor and my new one told me I am WAY overmedicated. I need to know if that's the case and if I may have caused any long-term damage to myself by blindly taking these medications. Here is the list of meds: Lexapro 20mg Lamictal 400mg Provigil 800mg Klonapin 1mg Abilify 7.5mg If anyone out there is a psychiatrist and can give me some insight, I'd really appreciate it.

michele replied: "For what it's worth, here's my "off the cuff" impression: You were wise to "fire" the doc that had you on that psychotropic cocktail. Be careful when you're weaning from the klonopin. Cutting it all out straight away can be dangerous. Lamictal AND abilify are probably overkill. One or the other may well suffice (unless you are suffering from schizophrenia AND bipolar disorder, or unless the Lamictal is for seizure management).. If you're not receiving the provigil for narcolepsy (which is extremely uncommon), my guess is that you're getting it to help you be more energetic. Once you're off the klonopin, you'll probably notice an increase in energy, and the need for the provigil will gradually wittle down to nothing. If you're bipolar or have significant mood swings (the only reason I'm guessing this is b/c of the Lamictal), it surprises me that you're simultaneously on the Lexapro. There has been considerable research to suggest that adding an SSRI to the treatment regimen of a biplar person may increase the risk and severity of manic episodes (although recently, there has been some evidence to suggest that this risk may not be quite as high as we thought). Hopefully, you and your current psychiatrist can develop a more reasonable/conservative treatment plan which will be equally (or even more) effective for you. Hang in there, ~M~ p.s. If you're planning to go off the Lamictal, you need to be carefully monitored with that one, as well (rebound seizures)."

Natalya replied: "- just to say that if you post this question in the 'medicine' section, you may get more responses. And for what it's worth, go with the doctor that your gut feeling tells you is the best."

maddog malone replied: "Watch out for quack shrinks, a recent study that was completed about a year ago or so revealed that 100% of the "doctors" (SHRINKS) who participated in the study were also on the payroll of big pharmaceutical companies. The drug companies have been paying off kickbacks to all doctors in general to get them to prescribe their products to patients. This obviously caused a dangerous situation for EVERYONE who uses quack shrinks. The quacks were overprescribing drugs in order to make more money for themselves and in turn begin ignoring the #1 rule in medicine which is clearly stated in the hypocratic oath. First and foremost, do no harm. It was a real eye opener to me when i read this article myself in my local newspaper. About 3 years ago I was victimized myself by a pathetic quack. The moron diagnosed me as being bi-polar and prescribed a drug for me called "zyprexa" I was immediately suspicious and did my own research on this drug. I was able to get a copy of a videotape on the drug itself and it revealed that people who have a history of severe kidney disorders should NEVER use this drug. Well, 18 years ago I underwent a successful kidney transplant. It doesn't get anymore serious than that now does it? To make a long story short, the QUACK ended up going to jail because one of his patients died from being over medicated. He was also implicated in an escape from the local mental hospital. He was one of the top managers at that facility at the time. The gist of the story was that he voted in favor of large budget cuts on security for the hospital that eventually lead up to a dangerous psychopathic patient to escape on her own. Had the security guard been on duty at the main entrance to the building, the patient would never been able to escape to begin with. Shrinks have proven themselves to be worthless con artists so many times in the past. It is not funny. Just think about how they are now pushing the use of anti depressants even after the manufacturers of these drugs have been ordered to put strong warning labels on the bottles saying they cause suicidal thoughts. AND NO this is not just in adolencents either, it is for adults up to age 25. end of story"

Bob replied: "I would ask myself if the Abilify is really doing anything. I would also ask myself if the Lexapro is really doing anything. Lexapro is not harmful but Abilify and Lamictal could be harmful in the long-term. Lexapro doesn't affect your energy level (it didn't with me and it shouldn't for most people). Sounds like you have no rash so you're taking Lamictal. I know people who take Klonapin to help them sleep. The Klonapin can probably be decreased to every other day. The Provigil I'm not clear on but perhaps a little Lithium and a lower dose of Lamictil can have the same result and give you a little more energy?"

xenophilic replied: "See & on page 2 (read the whole page, and page 1)."

fiVe replied: "It's not always how much of what you're on that determines whether you're overmedicated, but rather how it makes you feel. I'm bipolar and taking 450mg Wellbutrin XL, 200mg Lamictal, 15mg Abilify and 0.5mg Ativan (as needed) and it just about levels me out. I don't feel that I'm overmedicated, but I trust my psychiatrist. Do what you feel is appropriate because you know your body and mind best."

David D replied: "I'm not a psychiatrist, but I'm a retired neurologist. Between the doctor who had you on these 5 meds and the one who said you are WAY overmedicated, I'm more suspicious of the latter, unless you're exaggerating what he or she said. I take it you've been diagnosed as bipolar, in which case the combination of antidepressant Lexapro, mood stabilizer Lamictal and antipsychotic Abilify is typical. Not all bipolars need to be on all three types of drugs, but if you do, then you do. I wonder if you need to be on both Provigil and Klonopin. Is the Klonopin for anxiety? Do you need to be on both Klonopin and an antipsychotic? Then you're on the stimulant Provigil, too? It's certainly possible that you could be on a simpler regimen of medications, but I can imagine your symptoms that resulted in these five drugs. It's possible that you're on the right meds now, though my guess is you could be taking fewer meds and be doing at least as well as you are now. Who gave you this idea of "long-term damage"? That's not wise. Few drugs have potential for long-term damage. Generally the trouble is side effects that are reversible when you stop the drug, which is usually a lot smaller problem than the symptoms the drugs are treating. It's best if you have a doctor who will work to have you on the best regimen of medications possible. Bipolar disorder is a lifetime condition, and it pays to find what drugs work for you in treating that and what drugs don't. The trial and error can be frustrating and sometimes neither the doctor nor the patient want to rock the boat by changing anything. Still if you find what drugs work well for you, it's worth the effort and the trouble of some side effects on the way. It's also good to figure out the minimum number of drugs you need to take for the sake of fewer side effects and lower cost. I want a psychiatrist who's willing to work on my meds like that, over years, with an idea to what's needed and what isn't. From what you say, I can't tell which psychiatrist you mention is taking a better approach. Just how anti-drug is this new psychiatrist? If your symptoms are doing well, I'm sure any good psychiatrist would want to see if you can do just as well on fewer meds. But I don't see that you're WAY overmedicated, just probably a little overmedicated. If that's just a matter of semantics, then give the new psychiatrist a try. But if he or she is some kook telling you how terribly dangerous drugs are, and you should get off of them all, I'd quickly go see someone else."

Question concerning side effects: Vyvanse and Lamictal? I started Lamictal 25mg about three months ago, Vyvanse 20mg about one month ago. Originally, I was supposed to be on 50mg of Lamictal, but after three days of no sleep, I went back to 25. Since starting the Vyvanse, my appetite has basically gone out the , and I don't start getting tired until about 7AM. I have been forcing myself to eat, losing a couple pounds would be ok, too. And, the not sleeping part would be fine, except that when I do finally get to sleep, I can't get myself out of bed before noon, if I'm lucky. This didn't really pose a problem until recently when I started working normal people hours. The only way I could eat or sleep normally was if I didn't take my meds at all. This is not an option. I don't miss that person... I guess my question is, if you have been on these together, and had these same effects, what did you and/or your doctor do to get back on a schedule?

Jef Gazley, LMFT replied: "Everyone is very different and therefore have the possibility of different side effects. For most people Vyvanse and Lamictal are fine, but if you are having difficulty sleeping and eating it is probably the Vyvanse as that is the stimulant. You might suggest to your doc to check the dosage or to check out ADD-care which is an all natural supplement which has been shown to be as effective as the stimulants without appetite or sleep disturbances."

I am on 40mg of Celexa and just started 25mg of Lamictal....? I am recently diagnosed with BP. I am taking 20mg of Celexa twice a day and was on 250mg of Depakote ER. I started a hypomanic episode despite being on the Depakote so my psych. had me go off the Depakote for a week (which was rough-it was like I was on crack! I think the fact that I was taking Celexa without a mood stabilizer made it worse.) and I just started 25mg of Lamictal on Fri. I am feeling pretty depressed and am wondering if it's from the Lamictal (I think it's too soon) or just that I'm cycling into a depression after the hypomania? Also, I will start taking 25mg of Lamictal twice a day in two weeks. How long did it take for you to notice a difference and what will it be like with the Celexa? Do you think my psych might take me off the Celexa after I adjust to the Lamictal? Thanks in advance!

breezymourn replied: "You are prob just cycling down. The term what goes up must come down also applies to bipolar mood swings. The higher up you go the harder the come is. Lamictal is a great mood stabilizer and helps with depression as well. You should really start to see a difference in a month or 6 weeks. Lamicatal is a progressive drug and takes a while to work. I doubt you will be taken off your antidepressent, you were put on lamictal to help stabalize your moods."

pacemaker replied: "it takes a little adjustment then you have side affects after that you should feel better"

lamictal 25mg?? hey room... went to the doc yesterday. he added a new med to my regime. lamictal. anyone out there got any stories, or info. i looked it up online but wanted to know more about it in a personal way. this was prescribed by my neurologist. he told me he thinks its MDD (major depressive disorder?) where as my family doc says he believes it is BD. either way i have been referred out to yet another doctor. i am currently on lexapro 20mg , xanax 1mg and now this. i am just curious as to if this medicine will work or am i wasting my time? BPD (my bad... forgot the P) bipolar disorder

birdie replied: "25 mg is a beginner dose. Does the DR plan on increasing it. L if not introduced to the body very slowly, brings on very serious health problems. Talk to the Doc."

Andrew K replied: "I take ~300mg and have been feeling well adjusted. The 25mg won't be your final dose as the dr. has to gradually increase it to watch for a rare but serious rash so it may take a while to see results."

don't quote me replied: "I take Lithium/Lamictal combo and have been on this for 2 years. Not to sound dramatic, but these 2 meds pretty much saved my life. I was so ill with depression for 9 years and nothing worked until this. Some of the articles included in my blog may help re: meds. My blog containes both newsworthy and personal articles, and is dedicated to mental illness. Also included are many links. You may find me at: "

deshane2530 replied: "No you're not wasting your time. It is a mood stabilizer and will help you. I took it for over three years. Then I got switched to something different. That is another story. But it works well. So take it as prescribed and your doctor will more than likely up your dose. I was on 300mg eventually."

fully alive? replied: "I was on I believe 5 medications simultaneously, 4 of them for bipolar. Lamictal was one of them... I can't say it was the miracle drug, because I was on so many other things, too. But when it was the only mood stabilizer I was on, it worked quite well to manage the highs. I still hit major lows, though. Once I sort of reached an equilibrium, I decided to quit all of my meds and fight the bipolarity my own way. Uhhmmmm yeah, didn't work. I sort of had a grudge against the Lamictal, and I think it was because of the shape of the tablet... the shield makes it seem like it should protect you, but really your conscience and your unstable mind are working behind the scenes, where no drug can truly gain full access. It can't protect you... it can help with leveling of moods, but it can't protect you. Now I am just on lithium and celexa, possibly throwing something else into the mix in the near future, It may work for you better than it did for me. I hope it does. The search for the right med combo is frustrating as f-cking hell. Good luck! By the way, I was initially diagnosed with major depression, as well."

I am waking up in the middle of the night and I don't know who I am or where I am at.? I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and I take Prozac 20mg and Lamictal 150mg. I find that I at times, I don't know who I am or where Im at. I left work the other day and I couldn't find my car, turns out It was in the same spot that I always park in. Is this a symptom of the medicine or is it something else. how is it a symptom of getting old? I am 18 years old.

Amber in Action. replied: "Most likely, Yeah, Its the meds. They mess up your head. Big tiiiime."

Courtney replied: "symtoms of getting old i dont htink there is a medical problem just getting old"

Kitty P replied: "I would say its the medication."

asmaradanaabgdana replied: "Poor you.For the time being get your elder sister or your mum to accompany you when bedtime."

mAT replied: "PROZAC?!!!!! You don't need to BE TAKING AN ANTI DEPRESSANT!!! Lamictal is ok, stop taking the freaking Prozac Medicine like prozac, wellbutrin, zypreka, straterra, ritalin, aderal. All of them, though they are not all the same type of medication, can and do cause suicidal feelings in teens and manic depressives. Switch your GD doctor. You need to be on bi polar medication and only bi polar medication. Throw that fucking prozac awaY GIRL!!!! Get a new doctor and tell him or her that you want to try a different bi polar medication. Please for your own health."

Ms Cat replied: "I'm on Lamictal too (200mg) and it's causing some memory problems for me too. I couldn't remember how to tie my shoes and other wierd things like that. I can't seem to remember anything. I like the Lamictal though so I keep an organizer with me and write stuff down a lot...... Personally it's a side effect I can live with in exchange for the benefits I get. Sounds like your memory issues are worse than mine though..... I would go see yoru doc and see about changing either your medication or the dose. You shouldn't have to live with side effects that bad. Prozac and other antidepressnts can cause suicidal thoughts in teens but they can also cause mania if you are bipolar. Wellbutrin threw me into a fullblown mania...... I am still on antidepressants but we watch my symptoms really closely."

What happens when you go from 20mg of Lexapro to 0mg all at once? My psychiatrist took me off of my Lexapro (20 mg) and did not instruct me to wean off of it. Is that normal or do doctors normally wean you off it? Can my other meds decrease the "withdrawal" symptoms that would normally occur (my others are seroquel and lamictal)? Since going off the Lexapro, I've felt horribly depressed, extremely angry over everything (and I've NEVER been an angry person), irritable, anxious, etc. I can feel my heart beating in my chest, and my pulse is racing even when I'm laying down. My blood pressure has increased (it's been running an average of 130/80, whereas it used to run fairly low (90/60 to 110/70 or so)). My brain function seems about like the flickering of a candle. There are just waves of unawareness, lightheadedness, or something pulsing through my brain at times. It's hard to describe, but very worrisome. How long will this last?

Irene K replied: "maybe they are side effects? can you talk to him about it?"

CD replied: "you need to wean off this. anti depressants contain something called srs which can give you said symptoms, and you need to wean off of it because it's physically addicting."

Katy E replied: "funny you should ask. i was just in they hospital for a medication change and my dr took my off of celexa which is the sister of lexapro and i did experience a withdrawl from it. symptoms very much like yours the flickering candle is a perfect example. it really depends though how long you have been on it. 20 ml of lexapro isn't an extremely huge dose so its not an extremely but deal that he just stopped it cold turkey but if you have some pills left just cut them in half and take halves for about a week. you should talk to your dr though. i always just get admitted when i get my meds changed. they can do it a lot faster and in a safer environment. good luck. i know it sucks but it shouldn't last much longer."

EMT1400 replied: "You should have been weaned off of Lexapro. Tell him what you are going through and he should put you back on it and then slowly reduce the dose, which will be much less difficult. Here's a link describing what you are going through/about to go through. On the plus side, it won't last very long. Sorry about the bad doctor."

Jimmy replied: "Is there a reason they took you off the Lexapro? Did they start you on another medication, or just discontinue the Lexapro completely? From what it sounds like, the Lexapro was helping, since you're feeling more depressed without it. Based on your other medications, I'm assuming that your doctor thinks you're bipolar, since seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic and lamictal is used off label as a mood stabilizer in patients with bipolar disorder. I'm not a psychaitriast, but I would imagine that they would keep you on some type of antidepressant in addition to the other drugs. As for weening you off, most time with SSRIs they usually do ween you off, though 20mg isn't a very high dose, so that could be why they just took you off completely."

Jayaraman replied: "It is all due to withdrawal of Lexapro. You have been taking 20 mg, which is considered as high dosage. When a person is going to be stopping Lexapro, the doctor will wean him slowly to minimize the chances of developing Lexapro withdrawal symptoms, which are mentioned below. If symptoms do occur, the doctor may return the person to his original Lexapro dosage and then wean him or her even more slowly. Lexapro withdrawal symptoms can include but are not limited to: -Irritability -Agitation -Dizziness -A burning or tingling sensation -Anxiety -Confusion -Headache -Insomnia -Tiredness. In most people, these withdrawal symptoms improve with time, without the need for any treatment. Please therefore consult your doctor immediately and he may take suitable action for prescribing the dosage of this medicine and prescribe other medicines. Please do the neeful. With best wishes-"

Regina replied: "Your doctor is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG !! Get another doctor ASAP !!!!"

Paul A replied: "You need to wean off Lexapro VERY carefully and VERY slowly!! I've been there and done that - and it is very not pleasant to get off it cold turkey!! I put together a " " to get off Lexapro - here it is: The key to getting off Lexapro is to get off it very slowly. It took several weeks for the Lexapro to reach full potency in your system - and the same has to happen when you want to get off it. Of course, stopping cold turkey is very not pleasant and you certainly don't want to do that! To get off Lexapro, wean yourself to the lowest dose (5mg). If you're on 20mg, cut them in half (to get 10mg) and take those for a couple weeks, then go to the 5mg pills. After you've been on the 5mg pills for a couple weeks, cut them in half and take the half-pills for a couple weeks, then take the half-pills every other day for a couple weeks, then you can stop. This will slowly remove the Lexapro from your system, and help eliminate the possibility of withdrawal problems. If you wanted to add an extra step at the end, and take the half-pills every third day for a week, you can - but I don't think it's necessary. I wish you the best of luck :-) Paul."

I accidentally took too much Lexapro - what should I do? I am supposed to take 1 Lexapro (20mg) each morning. At night, I take 1 Lamictal (100mg). Well, I just accidentally took another Lexapro instead of the Lamictal! So, I went ahead and took my lamictal too, but what do I do about the fact that I have had too much lexapro today? When should I take my next dose? It's too late to call the pharmacy or doctor. (it's 11:25 pm here).

ZER0 C00L replied: "From what I've just read, an overdose of Lexapro doesn't occur until you take at least 600 mg. No worries. The other poster is right, you could also try calling poison control or checking their site. "

nursgstdnt replied: "You don't have a all night pharmacy in your area? If not 1-800-222-1222 is poison control."

puanani replied: "If there's no 24 hour pharmacy, I would call a hospital and ask them your question. I think you will be all right but if you can get through tomorrow, I would wait until day after tomorrow to take another Lexapro. Good luck to you."

Monty45 replied: "Call your doctor or psychiatrist. They should have someone on call. Also, if there is a 24-hr pharmacy nearby, call them in meantime. Too much medicine is a problem; how serious this might be depends on your body size & metabolism, which med you took too much of, and what other meds you are on! This is why you need to talk to your doctor /or doc on call. If you have any unusual symptoms, go to Emergency. Check below for info on lexapro od. ."

glenda w replied: "look for a 24hr pharmacy call them first,if you can't find one call the doctor.or you could call poison control center."

Maebnus replied: "Well, one day of double-dose Lexapro shouldn't really hurt you. If you normally experience any nausea, headaches, or whatever (I don't know what's normal for it), they might increase for a while. Or you may get some of the common side effects that you normally don't get. Definitely watch it next time though. Maybe get one of those weekly pill cases (usu. aimed at seniors) that have a spot for AM pills and PM pills to help prevent it. They have them just about anywhere that sells over-the-counter pain/cold/flu meds. Call your doctor's office or pharmacy tomorrow morning about it. They'll be able to tell you if you should take your morning pill as normal, wait 'til the next morning, or stagger a bit to help keep it going in your system."

Alex62 replied: "I take Lamictal and have taken ADs before. Don't sweat it. It'll wash out. ADs take a few weeks to work, so this will hardly register. If you are in a depressed period, then take your morning dose. If not, skip tomorrow. Lex has a fairly long half-life, meaning it won't be as if you are w/o any in your system. For peace of mind, contact your pdoc tomorrow to confirm. Worse case, you'll feel whatever side effect you had when you first went on the Lex."

copy & paste replied: "LEXAPRO (like most of the SSRI antidepressants) is, in general, not lethal even in large dosesalthough taking any medication over the prescribed amount is never a good idea. For patients who have taken "too much" LEXAPRO, alone or in combination with other drugs and/or alcohol, have experienced dizziness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, tremor, somnolence, sinus tachycardia, and convulsions. In more rare cases, observed symptoms included amnesia, confusion, coma, hyperventilation, cyanosis, rhabdomyolysis, and ECG changes (including QTc prolongation, nodal rhythm, ventricular arrhythmia, and one possible case of torsades de pointes). Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have taken too much of this medication.and if you have Symptoms of an Lexapro overdose which are, as already told, nausea, vomiting, tremor, sweating, rapid heartbeat, confusion, dizziness, seizures, and coma. I your case I suggest you to watch the effects and call the Pharmacy if you feel very uncomfortable. You can also skip one dose of Laxapro only, if the side effects are more.-"
